Community Mentoring Program

Become a mentor in the Community Mentoring Program and have some fun! For a small commitment of only 2-4 hours a week, you can hang out with a child that needs a mentor. There are always children in Regina waiting for a mentor, so we encourage you to apply today. After the enrollment process, we’ll provide training and match you with a child who shares your interests. It’s up to you and your mentee to decide when to get together, and what you do! You could go hiking, biking, play video games, watch a movie, listen to music, or cook! Children are always willing to try new activities and learn new skills. Come up with a list, and try new things together!

A small commitment can make a BIG difference. Each mentor commits to mentoring a child once a week for 2-4 hours for a minimum of one year. More often than not matches are having so much fun that they continue even after the one year mark. Currently, the average length of a match is 2.5 years. Not only does volunteering benefit the child but the volunteers as well. Studies show that 81% of volunteers mentoring children are more optimistic about their lives.

There are great kids anxiously waiting to have fun with someone like you. Their ages range from 6 to 17, and all are excited to be a part of this program. If you’ve ever wanted to be a kid again, your mentee will be happy to help you out. That’s the magic of the program – you learn from each other. Children who spend time with a mentor gain confidence, acquire new skills and competencies and develop an enhanced capacity to care for others. Mentors experience a sense of discovery and enjoyment as they see the world of possibility open up through a child’s eyes.
