Recruitment Needs for 2024-25
In 2024, the Big Brothers Big Sisters Board of Directors is seeking up to three (3) candidates to join the Board of Directors. While all applications will be considered, we are actively seeking those with strengths and experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Organizational Strategy: Ability to think strategically and to assess strategic opportunities and risks in the context of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Regina and Ares mission and vision; experience strategic planning, development and oversight.
  • Finance: Expertise in financial oversight, budgeting, investment and financial policies and procedures
  • Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI): Lived experience and understanding of principles and practices that support broad integration of JEDI into organizational contexts including, policies and procedures, best practices and current trends supporting greater inclusion across workplaces and within community-based programs.
  • Philanthropy and Fund Development: Experience and willingness to act, inspire and mobilize others via community connections, and influential community leadership.
  • Non-Profit Governance: Expertise in assessing Board’s effectiveness and recommending strategies and steps to improve and measure Board’s effectiveness; experience with non-profit leadership and / or governance.
 
Recruitment Process

The Board seeks the knowledge and experience, including lived experience, to provide strategic guidance to the organization, ensure necessary resources are in place to provide effective oversight and support management in realizing their objectives. With strong management in place, the Board’s role is to uphold strong governance.

  2. Current board members and Executive Director will meet with select candidates to provide an overview of the organization and board, including roles, responsibilities and expectations of board members.
  3. A slate of proposed new board members will be selected by the current board and identified as recommended nominees for election.
  4. New board members are elected to the board at the Annual General Meeting in October 2024.
